We are only a day (or two) into the new MLB season so there isn’t too much for me to write about. There is one intriguing story for me to write about today and that’s the Rockies new shortstop, Trevor Story. Who hit 2 homers in his debut last night also it was opening day so he definitely made some history.
Trevor Story smashed two homers and drove in 4 runs in the Rockies win over the Diamondbacks last night. Both of his homers came off the Dbacks new ace, Zach Greinke. Story became the first player in MLB history to hit two home runs in his debut on opening day. With the suspension of Jose Reyes it opened the doors for Story and he definitely looked like he belonged last night. His name has been mentioned among the Rockies top prospects for a few years now. Still just 23 years old I personally saw Trevor Story in the Arizona fall league a couple years ago. And even then you could tell that his bat could stick in the majors it was his defense that was a question mark. It was clear that he had good bat speed and everything but he wasn’t going to start in Colorado over Troy Tulowiztki plus they have a gold glover at second and third. So where would he play anyway? But now that they traded Tulo last year and Reyes beat his girlfriend (allegedly) here’s Trevor Story. Even though Jose Reyes use to be one of the top shortstops in the league I believe Story would’ve won the job this spring anyway. He hit .378 with 6 homers and he really opened some eyes this spring including mine. So be prepared Colorado its Story time.
