#42 Scott Kazmir trade

I couldn’t think of anything to write about today, matter of fact I was thinking about taking today off. So I feel pretty lucky that 20 minutes before I was going to start writing for the day (or skip today) Scott Kazmir gets traded to the Astros. It’s just a small trade compared to what’s due at this years trade deadline. But it officially marks the A’s as sellers and knowing Billy Beane this won’t be their only trade. It’s kind of a stretch but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Sonny Gray on the move. Gray is obviously their best player and he might be traded, no one is off limits from Billy Beane.

Like I said this is just a small trade, LHP Scott Kazmir going to the Astros for a couple minor leaguers. There really isn’t too much to talk about on this subject but it’s better than nothing right? Oakland traded Kazmir for RHP Daniel Mengden and C Jacob Nottingham. Neither are top prospects or anything more like middle of the road guys, but who knows they both could be sleepers. Nottingham is probably the better of the two and only 20 years old. Mengden on the other hand is already 22. But you never know what you’re getting with prospects these could both be major leaguers in the long run.
